I’m an author of the Lonely Hearts Travel Club series and travel blogger who swapped weddings for wanderlust. I was jilted before my big day but decided to use this heartbreak to spur me on to make big changes in my life. I sold everything I owned and booked a one-way ticket on a solo travel trip and never looked back! My blog that documented my adventures www.notwedordead.com grew with support from other heartbroken people looking to be inspired. I believe that you can find good in very horrible times if you are brave enough to say yes to the unknown!
Self care is a biggie. Taking time out to do something nice for yourself is vital in keeping a happy mind. I try to carve out me-time by having a relaxing bath, reading a good book or just ignoring the chores and watching something good on TV. My mum swears that you can’t fit another persons lifejacket without fitting your own first. You are important and making sure YOU live a positive and happy life then benefits those around you. I also believe that getting outside, being active and trying to switch off from social media to get a good night’s sleep is important – although tricky at times!
Actually schedule some time in your diary. You won’t move important appointments for others so why would you not treat yourself in the same way? Whether that’s family time, date nights or just doing something nice for yourself!
