Day 36 | Spiritual growth: BeYourSpirit

Tell us a bit about yourself and/or your business and how you got to where you are today

The shortened version: At the age of 26, I accomplished everything I thought that would make me happy. I always wanted to be an international successful business women and so I was, getting paid a very high salary, living and working in Amsterdam, just bought my own beautiful canal apartment, loads of friends and a great social life and guess what? I was miserable… I thought oh goodness please let there be more to life than this and so I quit my job and went travelling in South East Asia, many synchronisities happened and I ended up in a little village called `pai, the bus dropped me outside a healing centre and I knew with every inch of my body this was where I was meant to be.

I ended up living in this village for the following 3 winters (6months each time). I can now call this my healing journey and where I did all my valuable training and learnt most of my lessons which I now teach today. I took my 21 days silent Vipassana meditation retreat in the temple followed by 4 more silent 10days vipassana retreats. I took my Reiki Level 1, 2 and Reiki Masters, I discovered Yoga. I worked for the first winter with my acupuncturist, I tried EFT, Tapping, dancing, shaking meditations and read every holistic and spiritual book I could get my hands on.

9 years later I teach a 100hour Meditation Teacher Training Course, Reiki Teacher Training and various workshops and retreats. I am extremely passionate about what I do as I believe that I am here to help people on their spiritual path (personal development/growth and fulfilling their potential and purpose) and this is what makes me happy in life. (I still continue my practices everyday of Yoga, reiki and Meditation)

What Wellness rituals do you swear by?

You could categories for aspects for wellness.

Physically: Feed your body with good, healthy food and do some exercise (walking is enough, it just needs to be regular).

Emotionally: Start to understand and question your emotions, why are they here, what are they telling you, allow yourself to feel all emotions even the ‘negative’ ones. Do not judge your emotions, feel them then let them pass.

Mentally: Without a doubt- meditation

Spiritually: Only follow your heart and intuition not your mind and do what makes you happy every single day! Take a Reiki course too 🙂

What are your tips for incorporating Wellness in to a busy schedule?

Get rid of anything you do not really have to do in that day. Biggest step to wellness is be less busy! You have to prioritise yourself and stop saying yes to things you do not want to do. Replace the word ‘selfish’ with ‘self-love’.
