Bounce Children’s Therapy was formed by the two Jenni(e)’s(!) who met whilst both working full-time within the NHS. Both had a real passion for making children’s therapy fun, and for making a real difference to young lives, and this remains our ethos.
We have 22 years of combined experience in providing highly specialist Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy for children. We pride ourselves in being able to assess and treat children using this multidisciplinary approach; combining the professions to see each child as a whole and to work towards functional outcomes. We specialise in the management of neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy and traumatic/acute brain injuries. We see a wide range of children at any stage of their journey and can tailor our approach to meet their individual needs.
Often our first contact with children is when parents have a concern about their child’s motor development. Some children may have already been given a diagnosis, but for many it is their parents who have noticed that their development is slower, or that their movements seem different, to others of a similar age. Alternatively a child may have had a traumatic or premature birth and parents would like some reassurance regarding their development.
Whether a family request a developmental check, or rehabilitation following a neurological procedure (SDR) or injury, we always provide an initial full assessment within the home environment which will look at the child as a whole. Importantly we look in depth at not only ‘WHAT’ the child is doing (eg they can crawl/walk) but ‘HOW’ they are doing it (eg the way that they are using their muscles and senses whilst moving). We can then provide a variety of services, from assisting with onwards referrals and setting up home programmes and sourcing equipment, to intensive hands-on therapy intervention.
